The academy will make every effort to remain open whenever possible.
The decision to close the academy either before or during the school day will be made by the Principal. The academy will only be closed if one or more of the following conditions apply:
- Insufficient staff are able to come in to keep the school running safely.
- Conditions on site are dangerous
- Conditions are considered to be or are anticipated to later become too hazardous for travel.
In the event of Edward Worlledge Ormiston Academy having to perform an emergency closure, the following process will be put into place.
In the event of site having to close before the start of the academy day:
- Norfolk County Council closures lists will be updated
- Text message sent to all parents via all current mobile phone numbers.
- Academy website will be updated with further information.
- We will endeavour to provide parents with this information before 8am wherever possible.
In the event of the academy having to close during the academy day:
- Parents will be notified via text message via all current mobile phone numbers.
- Academy website will be updated with further information.
- Norfolk County Council closures lists will be updated
Please note – Where the academy is officially closed, all absence is counted as authorised absence.
